The history of the Sportster in the Harley Davidson range can be traced back to the introduction of the side valve K series machines introduced in 1952. Intended to compete with the overhead valve 500cc British machines on both the track and the road the new models were considerably lighter than their over head valve brothers. The next major step in the evolution of the range came in 1957 when the over head valve 883cc XL series of machines was introduced to be joined at the beginning of the 1970's by a larger capacity variant initially displacing 997cc. Whilst the 883cc engine size would remain a constant, continuing to this day, the larger variant would undergo two further increases in capacity, the first coming in 1986 with the introduction of the Evo 1100cc the second in 1988 when the 1200cc engine was adopted. Throughout production the Sportser has retained its slim, stripped down appearance.

The 1994 XLH 1200 offered was purchased by the vendor's brother in 2009 who then spent a further £15,000 pounds customising it to give it its "Old School" looks. Unfortunately, shortly after the work had been completed, and with only 200 miles recorded on the new speedometer, a hand operation that prevented him from operating the front brake and throttle precluded him from using it.

The machine is equipped with a set of Wide Glide forks and Fat Boy wheels together with a Fat Boy headlamp unit. A stretched Sporster fuel tank incorporating the speedometer, Bobtail fender, chrome rack, chromed rear sprocket, chromed lower chain guard, chromed crash bars, chromed battery and regulator covers, chromed Harley Davidson rear brake calliper, chrome air filter housing for the S&S carburettor, Harley Davidson chrome engine and oil tank covers, stainless steel forward controls, chrome footboards, Custom Chrome rear indicators and Harley Davidson Bullet front indicators, chrome Harley wheel adjusters and sparkling drag pipes ensure that the purchaser will never want for something to do as long as they have an ample supply of Autosol! The swinging arm has been extended by three inches and a chain drive conversion fitted. A clutch lite kit and braided fuel lines have improved the feel of the hydraulically operated components and an oil dipstick incorporating a temperature gauge is fitted. A Corbin single seat is complimented by a set of "Drag" bars mounted on pull back risers and fitted with Harley Davidson "Flame" grips and Maltese cross mirrors add to the riders comfort and an Eagle Talon sidestand supports the machine.

A new battery was fitted and the machine runs on Metzeler white wall tyres. The machine is finished with blue and white paintwork and is described by the vendor as "sounding great with good acceleration and comfort". Guaranteed to draw a crowd it is offered with a Swansea V5C, an MOT certificate valid until the 23rd June 2011 and the original speedo.
