Launched in 1962 to replace the curvaceous MGA, the MGB was a well thought out sports car which retained the 'fun to drive' factor of its predecessor but combined it with a more fashionable, straight-edged bodyshell. To answer criticisms which had been levelled at the MGA since the launch of the Sunbeam Alpine in 1959, much more thought had gone into the passenger comfort of the MGB both in terms of ride and interior appointments. So despite the anomaly of the heater remaining an optional extra costing £6 until the end of the decade, the MGB was a far more accomplished long distance sports car than its earlier sibling. Today, the MGB is one of the most popular and easily maintained classic sports cars available.

Supplied new to Ireland in 1974, this particular example has been in the current (second) ownership since 1979 (a fact reflected by the registration number it received upon importation). Reportedly used by the vendor's wife as "everyday transport over the next fifteen years or so", 'JEH 933V' is understood to have been treated to an extensive overhaul of its running gear as well as some bodywork restoration and a respray before being "left to languish in a corner of the garage for the past decade or more". Guessed to be "80% to 90% complete", the MGB is known to require a new windscreen glass, the re-assembly of its grille and the fitting of various other parts including brake pipes etc. Although a non-runner, the past twelve months have nevertheless seen 'JEH 933V' benefit from new wire wheels and fresh tyres. A worthwhile project, this two-owner, chrome-bumper MGB Roadster is being offered for sale entirely without reserve.
