Lot details Registration No: Un-Reg Frame No: Y23C-15719 Engine No: DIOC-15719 cc: 250 MOT Expiry Date: None
The YDS3 250cc two stroke twin marked a considerable step in the evolution of Yamaha's sporting quarter litre machinery. The new model retained the parallel twin cylinder two stroke configuration that had proved to be so successful with the previous model which combined with a five speed gearbox to endow the motorcycle with a claimed top speed of 92mph. A tubular frame equipped with telescopic forks at the front and swinging arm rear suspension endowed the YDS3 with secure handling and a twin leading shoe front brake ensured that the motorcycle could stop. The standard machine was quickly joined by a Street Scrambler version, typed the YDS3-C and known as the "Big Bear" or "Scrambler" identifiable by a pair of upswept exhausts with heat shields.
The example offered has recently been imported from the States and is offered Vat and duty paid. It is presented in original unrestored condition and, importantly, retains the upswept exhaust system which appears to be in sound condition. The vendor reports that the engine turns over freely and has compression. It displays 367 miles on the odometer. The vendor informs us that he will be happy to assist with the motorcycles registration.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
