Lot details Registration No: L56 KFS Chassis No: ZFFKC33C000092710 Mot Expiry: July 2004
Although Ferrari first introduced the Mondial in 1980, the most fundamentally revised version, the Mondial t, was launched in March 1989 and, with only 52 produced, the right hand drive cabriolet is the most exclusive.
The lower case 't' signifies the transverse mounting of the gearbox, allowing the engine to be mounted lower and improving weight distribution and handling. The enlarged 3.4-litre V8 gave an increased power output, up from 270 to 300bhp, making the Mondial t the fastest of all the versions, with a top speed and 0-60mph capability of 156mph and just 5.6sec respectively. By 1993, the Valeo clutchless, though still manually-operated gearchange was offered, an option fitted to the car offered here.
L56 KFS was first supplied by Glenvarigill Ferrari of Edinburgh in November 1993 to a local client. In October 1995, Glenvarigill again, though this time from their Glasgow premises, sold the car to the second owner who kept it in Buckinghamshire until, in April 1997, it was acquired by the keeper currently shown on the V5.
The condition of the Pininfarina body, paintwork in original Rosso Corsa, tan hide interior and mechanical items are described as excellent, whilst the 24,748 mileage total displayed when entered is confirmed by five previous MOTs, the current one being valid until July 2004. History file documentation supports partial service history with the cambelts changed less than 8000 miles ago. This is a truly excellent and all correct example of one of the most desirable Ferraris.
