Penned by Geoff Lawson and stylistically indebted to its XJ6 (X300) predecessor, the XJ8 (X308) was launched in 1997. Powered by a new generation of 3.2 or 4.0 litre AJ-V8 engines, the X308 would soon see an XJR derivative powered by a supercharged version of Jaguar’s 4.0-litre AJ-V8 engine which, with an output of 370bhp, was capable of powering the luxury saloon to 60mph from a standstill in 5.6 seconds and on to an electronically-limited top speed of 155mph.
This low mileage, single ownership XJR still presents in an outstanding condition, helped by 17 years in professional storage from 2007 to 2024, only recently being recommissioned with a fresh MOT with no advisories. Originally purchased at a time when customers could buy a new UK specification car in Holland and drive it back to the UK, taking advantage of EU benefits of the day. Its single ownership from new, saw the V5C changed from a company name into the vendor's private name in March 2004. With a comprehensive Jaguar main dealer service history, an instrument cluster was replaced under warranty at 7,214 miles due to an early fault (August 2000, by Paramount Jaguar, Derby). c.41,700 miles is displayed, however, c.48,900 has been covered. The XJR is accompanied by the original book pack, 3 keys including the green valet key, original umbrellas, original overmats and the original painted coach lines. It has never been modified and is believed to have never had paint.
