Lot details

Registration No: T.B.A
Chassis No: 450587
MOT: Exempt

  • Desirable Three Dial Short Wheelbase Car
  • Supplied with necessary import documents and NOVA completed for registering in the UK
  • A worthwhile 'blank canvas' project supplied with a desirable five speed gearbox

First appearing in July 1964, the birth of the 911 marked the end of 356-production. Customers immediately noticed the differences from its predecessor - but with many improvements came a large price increase - the 911 was around $2,000 more than the comparable 356 model. Thus, by April 1965 a "middle ground" was achieved. The new 912 (essentially a 911 with a four cylinder 356 engine) was less expensive and customers quickly noticed better weight distribution and better economy. Eventually outselling the 911 in the years it was current, more than 30,000 had left the Stuttgart factory by the time production ceased in 1969. One particular change during 912 manufacture came in its final year, 1969, when the wheelbase was increased from 2211mm (SWB) to 2268mm (LWB). The engine and rear suspension stayed in the same position but the suspension trailing arms were lengthened. This necessitated the rear wheelarches being moved rearward too.

According to the Kardex report supplied with the car, chassis 450587 is understood to have originally been built on 24th May 1965 in the attractive colour combination of Champagne Yellow over a Green Leather interior in left-hand drive specification to the Japanese market. Little is known of the car's history prior to the vendor purchasing it for import to the UK in 2023. The vendor found the car as a stripped shell sporting its original wings, dash and front luggage area which are original to the car. The vendor has painstaking procured a number of parts with the idea of building his dream car, which include a five-speed gearbox, a number of body panels, a fuel tank and front and rear subframe units.

Unfortunately, due to ill health, the vendor has decided present the car for sale as a completely stripped project. We are confident that this car offers huge potential to build a car to the preferred specification of the new owner. Porsche 912s (especially the early SWB cars) have been chasing their six-cylinder sisters in value and it is very rare to find such a great 'blank canvas' shell for sale.

Please Note: The final images were provided by the vendor with all parts included laid out. Please contact us for any more details needed.
