Lot details Registration No: EM 3404 Chassis No: AD123 Mot Expiry: Exempt
'EM 3404' sports curved-back four-door Saloon coachwork by Whittingham & Mitchel and, according to the British Salmson Owners' Club, is probably one of only four S4D models left in existence, and the only one currently on the road. Finished in Black over Red teamed with a Red interior, it is powered by 1596cc four-cylinder engine driving through a four-speed manual gearbox and has 'matching' chassis and engine numbers. The vendor informs us that the Salmson has had just five owners from new and he considers the bodywork, paintwork, interior trim, engine and gearbox as all being in "good" order. The odometer currently displays an unwarranted 81,000 miles.
British Salmson was an offshoot of the French Société des Moteurs Salmson and manufactured cars at Raynes Park, London from 1934 to 1939. The S4D was the second of three models offered, only 48-50 of which are understood to have been produced.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
