Lot details Registration No: HSL 479 Chassis No: TS69500-L Mot Expiry: Nov 2013
The TR3 of 1955 was an evolution of the TR2. With it came minor styling revisions, a slight power hike and the options of an occasional rear seat and bolt-on hardtop. The final iteration, the TR3A, appeared in 1957. It was recognisable by its wider front grille, exterior door handles and lockable boot latch and continued in production until 1962; by which time 58,236 had been built. Contemporary road tests achieved 0-60mph acceleration times of around 11.5 seconds and a top speed of a whisker under 110mph. Overall fuel consumption was in the order of 26mpg.
This pretty-looking 1960 TR3A started life as a California export model, at which point it was Powder Blue with Black trim. It remained in the USA until repatriated in 1999. The TR was then restored by Chestnut Classics, who graced the Triumph with its current combination of Green bodywork and Tan interior and converted to it right-hand drive. It has apparently covered just 8,500 miles since the completion of that work and now registers an unwarranted 94,706. Felt by the vendor to have "very good" bodywork, paintwork, interior trim, engine and overdrive transmission, 'HSL 479' is being sold with a file including photos of the restoration and a selection of old MOTs, plus one valid until November 2013.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
