According to information kindly supplied by the vendor, this Fafnir Formula Junior single-seater is one of just two such cars designed and constructed by Paul Moeller during 1959. A naturalised prisoner of war and amateur racer who lived in Buckingham (Buckinghamshire) at the time, Moller was quick to jump on the rear-engined Formula Junior bandwagon. The rear suspension link set-up he adopted was cutting edge too. Originally powered by a Ford 105E 997cc engine allied to a modified VW gearbox (the same drivetrain it employs today), the Fafnir featured some well-engineered period modifications. Known to have competed at various Silverstone meetings during 1962, 1963 and 1964 against the likes of Stewart, Revson and Selby, the single seater is recognised by the Formula Junior Historic Racing Association and known to Duncan Rabagliatti personally. It has current MSA HTP papers (issued January 2005) and has competed in various FJHRA events over the last three seasons including Brands Hatch, Donington, Mallory Park and Silverstone. The Fafnir was also invited to take part in the 2004 Goodwood Revival performing quite well on what was only its second post-restoration outing. Featured on page 49 of 'Formula Junior, The Complete A-Z' by Bernard Cowdrey, the rejuvenated racer has also graced the pages of Autosport and Motorsport magazines. Interestingly, Paul Moeller's grandson still owns the other Fafnir (though, it is in need of restoration). Apparently, the subject of much development work to improve its handling, weight distribution and reliability, the single-seater is accompanied by a history file and numerous receipts. Potentially eligible for a host of prestigious events, it also boasts a spare package comprising an engine, gearbox parts, original 1960s body panels and front disc brakes etc. However, these will need to be collected from the vendor's Leicestershire home.

PLEASE NOTE: A trailer is included with the sale of this vehicle, a photo of which can be found on our website. The vendor offers no assurances as to the condition or roadworthiness of the trailer.
