This very handsome, 'matching numbers', home market TR3A was first registered to the Standard Motor Company on October 24th 1958. Issued from new with the number 'VYM 429', it was initially employed as a demonstrator for the Greater London area. The vendor informs us that this historically important right-hand drive Triumph has appeared in: a number of books and publications; was on the cover of P. Olyslager's Motor Manual for the TR2/TR3/TR3A and that of a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust technical CD; featured in a 1962 Pirelli Cinturato advert; and has even been the subject of a 1:43 scale die cast model by Vanguard. Its impressive specification includes overdrive, full weather equipment, tonneau cover, heater and 60-spoke wire wheels.
In 1993 it was reportedly subjected to a 'nut and bolt' restoration by the Northern TR Centre, since when it has covered just 7,500 summer miles and is currently felt by the vendor to have "outstanding" bodywork, signal Red paintwork, Grey vynide interior trim, 2-litre engine and four-speed overdrive gearbox. The TR is now offered complete with much history dating back to the early 1960s including: period photos, invoices, DVLA ownership records, Heritage certificate, old MOTs and a current one valid into June next year. A unique opportunity for TR enthusiasts everywhere.
