Lot details Registration No: KAS 560 Chassis No: S824564DN Mot Expiry: April 2013
The final iteration of the original XK line was the 150. Though a logical progression of the XK140, subtle changes to the bodywork gave it a distinctly more modern air. The split windscreen was replaced with a single sweep of toughened glass and the scuttle height was raised; along with the waistline. The bonnet was widened and the dashboard trimmed in leather rather than walnut. Thinner doors gave more interior space. Initially powered by a 3442cc derivative of Jaguar's Le Mans-proven DOHC straight-six engine, the XK150 could be specified with an enlarged 3781cc unit from late 1959 onwards. By the time the model was superseded by the E-Type in 1961, some 4,445 Fixed Head Coupes, 2,672 Drophead Coupes and 2,265 Roadsters had been produced.
The sale car is a 3.4-litre Fixed Head Coupe with Oxford Blue bodywork and a contrasting Pale Grey leather interior. It is a right-hand drive, home market example that was supplied new to distributor Rossleigh of Edinburgh in July 1958 and equipped with manual overdrive transmission. The vendor's view of 'KAS 560' is that the engine, gearbox and interior are "good", the bodywork "average/good", and the paintwork "average". The Jaguar's odometer currently displays an unwarranted 47,000 miles and the MOT will last into April next year.
