Lot details Registration No: AXK 746 Chassis No: Z10552 Mot Expiry: Exempt
Having been in single family ownership for the past 65 years, this T7 bodied example of Lagonda's magnificent 6-cylinder M45 tourer features an unusual but believed factory original rear boot design capable of taking a trunk for long distance touring. Purchased by the current owner's mother c.1948, the car was subjected to a partial engine rebuild during the freezing winter of 1963 and at the same time work was carried out on the chassis. Between 1978 and 2009 it remained in storage since when it has received an amount of recommissioning work including the fitment of a new clutch and radiator core in 2011. In addition it has received new pumps, a rewired magneto, new coil, speedometer cable, new kingpins, transfer ports and exhaust manifold. All weather gear is present including hood, tonneau and sidescreens.
Finished most eye-catchingly in gold with black wings, the black leather interior shows wonderful patination whilst chips and marks to the paintwork are noted by the vendor. He further describes the bodywork as being "fair to good", the 4.5-litre Meadows engine and interior to be "good" and the electrics to be "all in working order". We understand the engine may well have been changed at some point prior to World War Two, the unit now installed being noted as number M45 225.
MoT exempt, this wonderfully patinated example comes with Swansea V5 document, photocopy engine manual and road fund licence to 30 November 2013.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
