Lot details Registration No: SV 8880 Chassis No: 126442 Mot Expiry: None
According to the Early Morris Cars Register, this Cowley 11.9hp Tourer was built as Car Number 126442 with Engine Number 143545 and Chassis Number D123442. Pleasingly retaining what appears to be its original brass identity plate (complete with corresponding Car and Engine Numbers), the Bullnose also boasts such correct model-year features as four-wheel 9-in drum brakes and external handles for its nearside doors (Morris did not fit offside doors in the interests of body rigidity and lightness). A letter on file from former Bullnose Morris Club Registrar Mrs Goding reveals that the front of the chassis has been repaired at some stage (losing its ID stamping in the process).
Sold new to J.M. Anderson Esq., the Tourer's next seven decades are something of a mystery. Purchased by dealer Nicky Paul Barron from Peter Arthur Thomas of York in 1996, the Cowley entered the current ownership some five years later. Sporting an offside-mounted spare wheel, full length hood and sidescreens, this appealing Vintage tourer has taken advantage of recent legislative developments and thus not been MOT tested since its last certificate expired on October 23rd 2012. Though, it is offered for sale with assorted old certificates (issued between 2001 and 2011) and an original Car Manual published on January 1st 1925.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
