Surely 2 of the most important water speed record items to come to the market in recent years, this sensational lot comprises a unique cigarette case given by Campbell to his Chief Timekeeper, a Mr Hirst Mitchell, at his record runs in 1959. The case itself a Dunhill sliding hinge case features a gilt lined interior inscribed 'To Mitch from Donald 14.May 1959. 260.35mph'. The case still contains one of Mr Mitchells business cards and a small press cutting about the great man. This lot also comprises a photograph album containing images from the water speed attempts (38 in total), with subject matters including cockpit photos, a photograph of the boats launch and his attendence at A Windermere Motor Boating Awards Evening. Hirst Mitchell was commodore of the club at this time and a certificate of provenance is included from the family of Mr Mitchell.
