The high-performance, limited production, SZ was a collaboration between Zagato, Fiat and Alfa Romeo and partially based on the mechanicals of the latter's 75 Group A/IMSA racer. It was designed by Robert Opron and Antonio Castellana and manufactured by Zagato using composite body panels.
Number 131 of the 1,000 LHD cars made, this particular example is described by the vendor as being in "very good" condition with regard to its 3.0-litre V6 engine, five-speed manual gearbox, electrical equipment, bodywork, paintwork and interior trim. Manufactured on 28th September 1990 but not sold to its first owner - a resident of Liege, Belgium - until 14th May 1992, the coupe was officially imported to the UK some six years later. Belonging to its previous keeper from 1998 to 2012, the Alfa benefits from a Superchips performance upgrade (though, the factory chip has been retained), while more recent work has seen the front bumper repainted and wheels refurbished (c.£800). Warranted by the seller to have covered just 26,310km (c.16,413miles) and riding on correct Pirelli P-Zero tyres, the exotic two-seater is said to have "good C pillars" and "original lacquer on rear spoiler". Boasting a fresh MOT, this appealing SZ is also accompanied by its original wallet (containing owner's handbook and service book), various old MOTs and assorted bills (several from Wyn Kershaw).
PLEASE NOTE: This vehicle has an MOT until August 2013.
