Triumph is the largest surviving British motorcycle maker, but it hasn’t been an easy path for the Midlands based manufacturer. The entire British bike industry collapsed in the 1970's and by the early 1980’s Triumph went into receivership. After a few years of inactivity, British businessman John Bloor bought the name and manufacturing rights with the “new” Triumph motorcycle company restarting bike production in the early 1990’s. Initially concentrating on more sports touring orientated bikes built on a modular concept, they moved into the red hot race replica market with bikes like the 600cc and 955cc Daytonas triples. The 600 model proved successful in Supersport racing, winning at the TT and in the World Championship. To keep pace with the opposition, the capacity grew to 675cc and is now the basis for the control engine used in the Moto 2 World Championship series.
Although now 15 years old, the 675 Daytona can still hold its own in performance stakes and certainly in looks against modern day competitors. This 2010 example, showing a credible 13,000 miles, is presented in excellent and mostly standard condition fitted with some nice carbon extras, adjustable levers, dark tint screen, a tail tidy and knee pads on the fuel tank. The standard exhaust has been replaced with a beautiful Jardine RT-One Carbon twin outlet exhaust that would cost about £750 today. It will be supplied with a few invoices for services carried out by Destination Triumph and a current V5C.
