Sold for £23,062

Lot details
Registration No: UAS 703
Chassis No: 5834522BW
Mot Expiry: April 2005

The rebuild of this 1958-made Jaguar XK150 coupe was commenced in the USA where chassis, running gear, brakes, suspension, carbs and fuel tank were either replaced or renewed or restored to as new condition. Details are in paperwork within the documents file. With all duties paid, the 3.4-litre fixed head was re-imported back to the UK approximately two years ago, being re-registered with the current UAS 703 plates following all completion of all the work.
The vendor tells us that Hartwell of Hereford then carried out a professional conversion from left to right-hand drive and a back to bare metal bare restoration, there being photographs recording this. The three-speed automatic transmission has had the torque converter renewed and is claimed currently to be in very good order. A new wiring loom was professionally fitted, the brightwork either replated or replaced, exhaust renewed in stainless steel, radiator refurbished, dynamo and starter reconditioned, period battery installed, petrol sender renewed and new chromed 16in wires shod with new Avon radials fitted. Some £3500 alone was spent on a complete interior re-trim by West Midlands specialists Aldridge with static seat belts fitted in the front and twin lap belts in the rear.
The 3.4-litre six-cylinder XK engine is reportedly currently in very good order. We understand that the carbs were recently tuned by a retired engineer, who also re-greased the car, made adjustments to the exhaust, set the regulator and generally checked the car out. A 450 miles round-trip to the Goodwood Festival of Speed was completed without missing a beat. The current MOT will be valid until next April and the tax disc until March.

All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
