Lot details Registration No: DPO131W Frame No: 776438 Engine No: 7415731 cc: 125 MOT Expiry Date: None
Following the end of the Second World War and the division of Germany, production recommenced at the former DKW plant at Zschopau in 1950 with a version of the DKW RT125. The company formed part of the IFA group, the state controlled automotive group. The company pursued an active road racing program which resulted in a number of innovations in two stroke design and were active in ISDT competition throughout the sixties and seventies with great success. The quality of the road going machines belied their low price and resulted in healthy sales throughout Europe during the second half of the Twentieth century. The TS 125 Alpine could trace its ancestry straight back to the DKW RT125, retaining that models basic engine design. The frame featured a mixture of pressed and tubular steel construction and was equipped with telescopic forks and pivoted fork rear suspension. Its robust nature, good performance and low purchase price compensated for its lack of sophistication and ensured its popularity.
This example has been in the same family ownership since 1983 and was last used in 1996. It has subsequently been stored in a heated cellar. Presented in good overall condition it is offered with its full complement of original tools, an old style Swansea V5 and an expired MOT.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
