Intended to complement the six-cylinder Hornet, the four-cylinder Nine joined the Wolseley range for 1934. Based around a sturdy ladder-frame chassis equipped with all-round semi-elliptic leaf-sprung suspension and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes, the newcomer was powered by a SOHC 1018cc engine allied to four-speed manual transmission. Surprisingly roomy despite its 7ft 9in wheelbase and 3ft 9in track, the `baby' Wolseley was reputedly capable of 59mph. While, the vast majority of Nines were supplied as four-door saloons, just 7,201 are thought to have been made (though, the spilt between open and closed cars is unknown). Finished in Burgundy with Black wings this charming Nine is believed to be 1 of just 107 examples known to survive and was subject to a speedometer overhauled in 2015 followed by an engine overhaul in 2017. Offered with original spare parts list and instruction manual, collection of invoices and silent features manual the vendor currently considers the engine, transmission, bodywork, paintwork and interior trim all to be in `Good' order. Amazing value for enjoyable vintage motoring.
Vendor Condition Ratings:
