  • 42,800 miles from new with documented Speedo change at 26,237 miles
  • Displayed at the 1977 UK Motorshow to entice the order from the luxurious Peninsula Hotel of Hong Kong
  • Original Crewe registration number and offered with a collection of invoices plus old MOT's
  • Subject to an interior retrim and £3,283 worth of recommissioning in 2014

As you may have gathered from Commander Bond’s outing in The Man With The Golden Gun, Hong Kong’s luxurious Peninsula Hotel is renowned for its fleet of Rolls-Royces, a tradition that dates back to 1970 and initially comprised a line-up of seven Silver Shadow Is. The extremely smartly-presented Shadow II now on offer has remained in its current ownership since 2013, and is one of three Peninsula Green examples especially prepared for the 1977 British Motor Show with a view to encouraging a fresh order from the hotel. We understand it has covered just 42,800 miles from new, which takes into account a documented speedometer/odometer change at 26,237 miles. The Rolls benefits from having had £3,283 worth of retrim to its Cream hide interior during 2014, and is now available complete with its original Crewe registration number (‘805 RU’), plus a selection of invoices and old MOTs. A very attractive motorcar with an enticing history.

With the `Shadow II' of 1977 came rack-and-pinion steering, revised front suspension geometry, and a change of carburettors, exhaust and cooling fans. More visible were the rubber-tipped bumpers, a deeper radiator shell, different door handles with more deeply recessed buttons, the bib spoiler below the front bumper and a new style door mirror that was adjustable from inside the car.
