The most successful car in World Rally Championship history, it is unlikely that the Integrale's record of six WRC titles and 46 individual rally wins will ever be beaten. Introduced in May 1989, the road-going 16-valve version quickly earned a reputation as a fantastic driver's car. Derived from the same basic Giorgio Giugiaro styled monocoque shell as its fire-breathing brethren, it sported specially widened wheelarches and modified settings for its all-round independent suspension (MacPherson strut front, double transverse arm rear). Fed by a Garrett AiResearch T03 water-cooled turbocharger with intercooler, its Aurelio Lampredi-designed dohc 1995cc four-cylinder engine developed an impressive 200bhp and 225lb ft of torque. Deployed via a five-speed manual gearbox, its sophisticated permanent four-wheel drive system with central viscous coupling and Torsen rear differential was set-up to give a 47:53 front/rear bias under normal loads. Reputedly capable of 138mph and 0-62mph in 5.7 seconds, it was equipped with ABS-controlled vented front/solid rear discs as standard. Available in left-hand drive guise only, the 16-valve Integrale became an almost instant cult classic.
This particular example was imported from Italy in 1998 and has been owned by the vendor for the last eight years or so during which time it is said to have covered a mere 800km as a result of being stored in a heated garage from June 2004 to June 2008. Thereafter we are informed that it was treated to "a full engine service including cambelt, plus new brake calipers, discs, pads and handbrake cables". Currently the odometer shows an unwarranted 65,650km - only just over 40,000 miles. The vendor adds: "It is a very original car with no rot or corrosion, paintwork is very good and the Alcantara and cloth interior is very good for the age of the car". Furthermore, he tells us that it has been upgraded with "a special exhaust and 17in OZ wheels shod with near-new tyres". The Lancia is offered for sale with current MOT certificate and road fund licence.
