Lot details Registration No: RDC206H Chassis No: GHN4170776G Mot Expiry: Nov 2005
When the MGB replaced the A in September 1962, the main change was the use of a lower and wider unitary construction shell rather than a separate chassis and body, and a larger 1798cc engine instead of the 1622cc power unit fitted to the final MGAs.
According to the entrant of this MG, a 1969 Abingdon-built MGB, the right-hand drive roadster has had four owners from new and has been nicely restored. Seats and hood have been replaced and the overdrive renewed. The dashboard is in walnut, the engine bay has been detailed and a polished stainless steel boot rack fitted.
Current condition of the two-door bodyshell is claimed by the vendor to be good. Red paintwork and vinyl trim in black with red piping are also good, he says, while four-cylinder motor, four-speed manual gearbox, which has the benefit of the desirable overdrive, and electrical equipment are reportedly in good order. The 86,661 miles displayed when entered is claimed to be the genuine total mileage. The MOT has been freshly passed and the tax disc is valid until next March.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
