Lot details Registration No: 8465 H Chassis No: C734166 Mot Expiry: March 2005
According to the original green logbook in the documents file, this 1953 Dagenham-made Ford Prefect was first registered in Malvern, Worcestershire. In later years, the righthand drive saloon was resident in France where it was shown at collector car events. At some time it has been converted from 6 to 12volts with electric fuel pump, operated by switch, which has made the car much easier to start. It also has a heater fitted.
The current condition of the chassis and 4-door bodywork are said to be excellent, the black paintwork also excellent and the brown interior good. Whilst the 1172cc 4-cylinder sidevalve motor and 3-speed manual gearbox are reportedly in excellent order and the electrical equipment good.
The 90,550 miles displayed on the odometer when entered for the auction is thought by the vendor, possibly, to be the genuine total mileage for this car from new. The owner also tells us it drives well, just like it should, and will have been driven from its Derbyshire home to the auction venue here in Buxton.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
