Lot details Registration No: B804ACW Chassis No: SALLDV807AA233779S Mot Expiry: June 2005
The very British Land Rover came about because Rover were looking for an exports booster and their engineering chief Maurice Wilks wanted to produce a British-made 4WD replacement for the WW2 Jeep he was using on his estate in Wales. Production commenced in 1948, employing the 1595cc four-cylinder petrol motor from the Rover 60.
Offered here is a very original Land Rover, a right-hand drive Countryman estate on steel wheels which first left the Solihull works in 1985. The Welsh entrants claim that it drives very well and that four extra tyres are included.
The chassis is said to be good as are the body panels, whilst the grey paintwork is original. Apparently the beige interior trim is in good condition, too, whilst the 2495cc four-cylinder diesel engine and five-speed manual transmission are both reportedly in good order as is the electrical equipment.
The 173,000 miles displayed when entered is guaranteed by the owners to be the genuine total from new. Last renewed in the summer, the MOT is valid until next June.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
