Ken Rush is a professional artist specialising in cars and aircraft but with a wide range of techniques and experience. Aged 14 he was the youngest artist at that time ever to have a painting accepted for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, and years later he was again at the Royal Academy among other artists as European Illustrator of the Year 1976. This was for his painting of the Moldacott Pocket Sewing Machine in his Book of Fantastic Machines, published by Octopus Books in eight languages. Ken's five view illustrations for the Profile Publications range of booklets on vintage cars and aircraft are well known for their technical accuracy. He has executed a range of illustrations for books published by Automobile Quarterly in the USA on Porsche, Ferrari, Mustang, Volkswagen and Corvette, and for den posters for the same publisher.
Ken's History of the Motor Car series of Brooke Bond Tea Cards increased the sales of tea to such an extent that 470 million cards were eventually printed. Booklets containing the series can still occasionally be found on the internet. Another unusual commission was for a series of car illustrations to be placed inside packs of dynamite for a South African mine so that the miners would open the packets carefully and safely.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
