The 98in long Smart city car was originally conceived by Swatch Swiss watch maker Nicolas Hayek, who established a joint-venture with Daimler-Benz to create Micro Compact Car GMbH.
This righthand drive Smart was built by Micro in 2001, though was not imported to Milton Keynes based UK distributors Daimler-Chrysler until 2003. The 'Passion Soft Touch' convertible is turned out with standard Passion bodywork with the addition of F1 sponsor West body kits from Smart body kit specialists Koenigseder Tuning in the authentic full McLaren-Mercedes livery of graphite and silver. Trim is colour co-ordinated in matching grey fabric.
Further upgrades include lowered springs, Schmidt wheels and the re-mapping of the 599cc 3-cylinder engine exhausting through a Janspeed twin pipe set-up boosting power output from 55 to the present claimed 75 bhp. The transmission is rather special, too, being a 5-speed Tiptronic.
This present owner is the widow of a very well known and respected collector and this sensational car was purchased just prior to this death with only some 3000 miles on the odometer. She has completed a mere 500 miles in it since and therefore the total mileage from new is a warranted 3500 miles, or at least it was when it was entered into the auction. It is possibly the most stylish and fun vehicle available and is in exemplary condition throughout and you will be very hard pressed to find a mark on it anywhere. Just a great looking car!
PLEASE NOTE: This vehicle has a flat battery due to storage.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
