Lot details Registration No: STA 715 Chassis No: TS4949 Mot Expiry: Exempt
Introduced in 1953, the Triumph TR2 boasted genuine 100mph-plus performance and agile handling. Of the 8,628 TR2s built, just 2,823 were made available to the home market. Entering the current ownership in 1989 as `a runner with a MOT', this particular example was reportedly stripped to a bare chassis some eleven years later ahead of an extensive `nut and bolt renovation' that lasted until 2005. Having covered just 544 post-restoration miles, the Triumph is rated by the vendor as `excellent' with regard to its factory-fitted 1991cc engine, four-speed manual plus overdrive gearbox, electrical equipment, interior trim, bodywork and paintwork (though, he notes that the water temperature gauge is not original). Reunited with its initial `STA 715' number plate in 2010, this delightful TR2 currently displays an unwarranted 92,000 miles and is offered for sale with historic class (free) road fund licence valid until 30th November 2014.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
