  Lot 112

1971 Jaguar E-Type V12 Roadster

Lot details
Registration No: HHR992K
Chassis No: 1S20043
Mot Expiry: July 2020

- An exceptional V12 Roadster worthy of the closest inspection. Recently 'bare metal' restored following 28-years' hibernation

- Chassis 43 was wearing its original paint and found to be accident / rot free when refurbished

- Paperwork suggests the car had just 1 owner Stateside, 50,000 credible miles, original seat upholstery, manual g'box, matching numbers

Further Info:

Conventional wisdom has it that a Jaguar E-Type V12 Roadster built to right-hand drive specification is worth more than one which has been converted from left- to right-hand drive because it is rarer (1,872 RHD vs. 6,120 LHD cars). However, the market is showing an ever increasing preference for originality and there are those who value a L-RHD converted car that retains all its Jaguar factory sheetmetal ahead of a RHD one which has been restored using pattern parts (as most of them have).

Only the 43rd left-hand drive E-Type V12 Roadster to be built (production started at chassis number 1S20001), this exceptional example was not only still wearing its original paint when imported to the UK but also found to be free of any corrosion or accident damage. Accompanying paperwork suggests that the Jaguar had a single keeper Stateside who took it off the road in 1989. The subject of an extensive, professional 'nut and bolt' restoration during 2017-2018, the two-seater was converted to right-hand drive before being refinished in its initial and very rare livery of Light Blue with Blue leather upholstery. Never fitted with the later-type federalised bumpers, it nevertheless had its brightwork renewed / refurbished. The car's rejuvenation is chronicled in an accompanying history file which includes 'all invoices'. The odometer displays an unwarranted but highly credible 50,400 miles. The seat leather is original with only the door cards and carpets etc being renewed. Fitted with a stainless steel exhaust and new soft-top, 'HHR 992K' is summed-up by the vendor as 'a truly beautiful car'.
