The Lambretta TV175 series 2 was launched in October 1959. It had an engine based on the Li150 series but with an increased capacity and the crankshaft, barrel, piston and gearbox ratio were changed. The front forks were fitted with external shock absorbers. The Rear plate and fork links were redesigned to cope with the extra power. The UK models were fitted with a Veglia 70 mph speedometer face and a dual seat. The ‘Lambretta’ and ‘TV175’ side panel badges were attached to the panels with small nuts as opposed to the riveted badges on the series 2 Li panels. Often referred to as the ‘tourer’ it had a superb performance coupled with beautiful styling and has been hugely sought after for many years by collectors.
This example was sold new in Somerset in 1961. She has been painted in a 2 tone Blue paint theme with pinstripes and restored to a very good standard. The engine and frame numbers are correct and it is assumed that the engine is original to the scooter. The engine has been seen running well. The original lights were seen working and the keys for ignition and steering lock are present. The panels fit very well and line up as they should. She has original CEV headlight and rear light, and the original 70 mph speedometer. The seat cover, back seat pad and wheel cover were all made by John Cochran using original 1960’s American leopard vinyl. She comes with a myriad of other accessories many of them original including; Wipac badge bar with bullet lights, Radyot mirrors, Lucas frill lights with mirror on the back, Alpine horns, Vigano front bumper, Miller lights (clear and orange), Radyot light, Biemme rear pate light (wired up to use), Ulma style front rack, Pegasus horses, Flying Lady, front and rear hub covers, Super style fork covers, Vigano style Clamshell, Fiamm style foot board extensions, front crash bars, passenger back rest, and Ulma style rear carrier. This scooter represents a great example of mod style and has had a lot of money, time and love spent on it over the years.
