Lot details Registration No: GTC549K Chassis No: KE3596 Mot Expiry: June 2005
This GT6 first left the Triumph works in 1971, being Dinatron rust-proofed pre-delivery 21 July 1971, the guarantee card still being with the service booklet. According to the original invoice in an extensive history file, which includes original owners handbook, service passport sales brochure, the fixed head with 6-cylinder motor cost £1341 13s.
Only using it in the summer, the first owner put the car into dry storage from 1980 to 1991, when it was stripped down to the chassis during a £11,862 restoration, a comprehensive photo record being on file. From 1992, it was only exposed to showing, winning the Master's Class Car of Show at the Triumph Sports Six Club's 2000 Stafford concours and a finalist in the Autoglym National Concours in 2000.
The mileage was 18,459 when bought by the second owner who, during a further 2000 miles, added painted wires and renewed the tyres. It was acquired by the vendor, the third owner, at one of our auctions in 2001 with warranted mileage of 20,500 miles. A heavy-duty battery was fitted last year and, when entered for the sale, the odometer reading had only risen to a genuine 25,974, as supported by MOT certificates in the history file.
Current condition is described as concours. Included are a further five original steel wheels with new tyres, a Triumph dealer workshop manual and tailored dust cover. The car also comes with a full MOT.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
