Lot details Registration No: OY 6763 Chassis No: J24110 Mot Expiry: Exempt
A founder member of the Newmarket Car Club, Roy Jarvis purchased 'OY 6763' in a semi-dismantled state after it had been part-modified for the fitment of a Ford engine. The MG was then stripped to the bare chassis and much detailed restoration work carried out by Mr Jarvis whilst simultaneously returning the Midget to its correct specification. Once completed, the two-seater featured in a multi-page article in the February 1993 edition of Practical Classics magazine. Of note are the now quite rare full length flared wings, aero screens, headlamp stone guards, chromed Lucas Altette horns, copper exhaust tailpipe, starting handle, fuel tank 'dipper' and the embossed MG 'octagon' logo of the door cards. Finished in Porsche Guards Red and trimmed in Cream leather, the J2 is nowadays considered by Mr Jarvis's family to have 'excellent' bodywork, 'very presentable' paintwork, and 'very good' interior trim and carpets. An altogether very presentable example of this much loved British classic.
