Lot details Registration No: OOV 311 Chassis No: 202219DN Mot Expiry: Sept 2005
The vendor tell us that this Jaguar late-entry has only has two main owners since it was new in 1960, the first until 1977 and the second from 1978 to 2002. The Mk2 3.8 saloon, a righthand drive four-door on wires, has never been fully restored, he says, and is still highly original with nice patina. The bodyshell is currently described as being very good as are cream paintwork and red leather interior.
We understand that much mechanical work has been carried out, however, including an overhaul of cylinder head and brakes, and replacement of front and rear springs and dampers. Both 3.8-litre XK motor and four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive are reportedly in very good order.
The sports saloon, which is claimed to have matching numbers, was in the Patrick Collection in Birmingham in 1978, whilst the history file contains previous MOTs, the latest certificate not requiring renewal until next September, a Heritage certificate confirming manufacturing details and an original buff logbook. The OOV 311 registration is the original one and has survived intact. Whilst the 71,600 mileage displayed when entered for today's sale is believed by the vendor to the genuine total for the car from new.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
