Some twenty-nine years after it ceased production, the MGB remains as popular as ever. One of Britain's best loved sportscars, the model's handsome styling, spirited performance and balanced handling have won it a veritable army of fans. Based around a two-door monocoque bodyshell equipped with independent coil and wishbone front suspension, a 'live' rear axle, disc / drum brakes and rack and pinion steering, it relied (in both 'Roadster' and 'GT' guises) on a 1798cc four-cylinder engine allied to four-speed manual transmission. Tough, dependable and easy to maintain, the MGB remains in many ways the ideal classic.
Finished in Harvest Gold with black upholstery, this particular example is variously described by the vendor as being in "good" (electrical equipment, interior trim), "very good" (engine, four-speed manual plus overdrive gearbox) or "excellent" (bodywork, paintwork) condition. Riding on Rostyle wheels, 'UWP 979R' is stated to have covered just 24,600 miles from new (a figure apparently substantiated by numerous accompanying MOT certificates). Said to be "a good driver" with "no known faults except for a broken rear window zip", the MG has the added advantages of a radio and tonneau cover. An unusually low mileage car, this tempting Roadster is offered for sale with the aforementioned MOT certificates, "service history / bills" and MOT certificate valid until January 2010.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
