1998 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur Park Ward

Lot details
Registration No: R348JCU
Chassis No: SCAZY20C9WCH80720
Mot Expiry: T.B.A.

Introduced towards the end of 1995, the "New" Rolls-Royce Silver Spur (like its "New" Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit and "New" Bentley Turbo R stablemates) was little changed in outward appearance. Still based around the familiar four-door monocoque bodyshell equipped with all round independent suspension (self-levelling at the rear), ventilated ABS disc brakes and power assisted steering, its 6750cc V8 engine employed Bosch Motronic fuel ignition and was allied to four-speed automatic transmission. Updated for the 1997-model year, the luxury saloon gained a light pressure turbo which improved both performance and fuel economy. Itself a long wheelbase derivative of the Silver Spirit (124.5-in vs. 120.5-in), the Silver Spur could be had in stretched Touring Limousine and Park Ward guises (148.5-in). Effectively handbuilt to special order, the latter cosseted rear seat occupants like few other motorcars before or since. Decidedly rare, just 44 Rolls-Royce Park Ward Limousines are thought to have been sold worldwide.

The interesting motorcar on offer was not only the last Silver Spur ever made, but the last of all Crewe-built Rolls-Royce Saloons produced. It was also one of only 20 special edition cars built without division and one of just three aimed at the UK market. Its extended wheelbase ensures all passengers have ample legroom, while the hand-crafted cabinets, veneered panelwork, hide trim and deep pile carpets create an environment of arguably unparalleled luxury. Understood to have covered just 7,500 miles from new, `R348 JCU' is finished in pearlescent Peacock Blue and trimmed in blue-piped pleated Magnolia hide. According to the vendor, the Rolls is in "as new" condition and with its unique history will surely be of interest to all serious collectors of the marque. It is being sold complete with a fresh MOT and service carried out by Rolls-Royce specialists.

All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
