Just as soon as the nimble little Mini roared into the scene in 1959, it was obvious that this was a brilliant concept from the drawing board of one of the most ingenious automobile engineers of all time, Sir Alec Issigonis. For by placing an independently-sprung wheel at each corner and employing a transversely-mounted engine in unit with the gearbox, the front wheel drive package delivered superlative handling and achieved an impressive power to weight ratio.
This 1964-built Morris, a De Luxe specification righthand drive Mini, had body panels replaced and a full bare metal respray with glass and brightwork removed two years ago. Clutch and exhaust have also been renewed.Currently, the two-door saloon is said to be in super condition with bodyshell, panels, blue paintwork, blue interior, 848cc four-cylinder engine and four-speed manual transmission reportedly all in good order. The only three owner car's 64,000 mileage displayed when entered for the sale is believed by the vendor to be the genuine total. The current MOT certificate is valid until next April.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
