Lot details Registration No: 2646 VY Chassis No: 1J1 025DN Mot Expiry: July 2005
This 1967-built Jaguar Mk II is presented today as a replica of the celebrated John Coombs racing team replicas which were converted by the Surrey Jaguar dealer for consumption by the well informed sporting motorists of the day. The vendor tells us that the 4-door saloon was rebuilt approximately twelve years ago, employing a rust-free righthand drive 240 saloon, an E Type 3.8-litre motor and uprated overdrive-equipped 4-speed manual transmission.
The history file contains former MOTs, the current certificate being valid until next July. The brakes have been subjected to a recent overhaul including a replacement servo and an E Type distributor fitted. The duty-exempt tax disc will not require renewing until next July. The total mileage is thought to be approximately 100,000. It is also our understanding from our entrant that the 2646 VY registration currently on the motor car stays on it.
The bodyshell is currently rated by the vendor to be sound, the body panels in very good condition, the Carmen Red paintwork pristine, the chrome wire wheels all good, the magnolia leather interior excellent, the 3.8-litre motor good with factory oil pressure and a fault-free gearbox and overdrive. The electrical equipment is said to be 100 per cent operational and the car is protected by a Category 2 immobiliser. So confident is he of the fine condition of his Coombs rep that the Yorkshire enthusiast owner will have driven it to the sale venue at Buxton.
PLEASE NOTE: This vehicle has an E Type distributor fitted and not S Type as stated in the catalogue.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
