The increasing emphasis on performance in the middleweight sector of the market towards the end of the sixties, prompted by the arrival of machines such as the Kawasaki Avenger and Honda CB77, resulted in MV Agusta announcing a development of their existing 250cc twin at the 1969 Milan Motorcycle Show. The new model, displacing 348.9cc, would eventually be offered in a number of forms including a Street Scrambler and Police model, however, for many the most desirable was and is the Sports variant.
The example offered was built at the MV factory during February 1973 and despatched from the works on the 18th April 1973. It was purchased by the vendor as a non-runner approximately six and half years ago and subsequently underwent a complete restoration. Work carried out included a complete re-enamel, re-chroming and professional re-wiring. The cylinders, heads and rocker covers were bead blasted and all the alloy covers were polished. The original alloy wheel rims were re-laced with stainless spokes and the bearings cleaned and repacked. The original seat base has been recovered and new exhaust pipes and silencers of the correct type were sourced from Italy. As one would expect, new cables, battery and tyres have been fitted. It is described by the vendor as "probably the most authentic and closest to original factory specification 350 B Sport in the UK" with a recent show win to supprt that assertion.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
