Lot 80 - 1963 Triumph TR4 Racecar

1963 Triumph TR4 Racecar

Lot details
Registration No: 477 UXA
Chassis No: Unknown
Mot Expiry: June 2005

With FIA papers for the circuits and yet still UK road registered, this is reckoned to be the most consistently successful endurance race TR4 in Europe. Prepared and maintained regardless of cost by Cambridge Motorsports, the right-hand drive sports has an all steel engine with 87mm forged pistons, steel rods, crank and flywheel, as well as twin 48 DCOE Webers, close-ratio gearbox, limited slip differential and a long-range bag tank.
US raced 1963-1991, the TR came to Europe in 1992 and, employing the best components available, was fully restored to present FIA Appendix K regs compliance in 1999, since when it has been endurance raced, achieving - 4th 1999 Spa 6 Hours, 1st in class 1999 Eifel Klassik, 1st in class 2000 Eifel Klassik, 5th overall 2001 Spa 6 Hours, 1st in class 2001 Eifel Klassik, 4th 2002 Eifel Klassik 1000k, 1st in class 2002 Oldtimer Marathon, 2003 Gentleman Drivers races Pau, Spa, Brands, Charade and Estoril, and 2nd in class Nurburgring Marathon and Eifel Klassik.
From these results, one can appreciate that the chassis is special, whilst the raced bodywork, painted blue, is described as "clean", the interior cage-protected, the 2188cc engine freshly prepped for 2005 and the four-speed manual box very "trick".
Cambridge Motorsport can provide full support to run this very special Triumph, not only in their workshops, but by providing a spares package as well as circuit transport and paddock service. Road registered and with current V5, the car has both current MOT certificate and tax disc valid until June.

Please note:
This is the car that everyone knows as the 'Cambridge Motorsport TR4' and will have seen it entered and winning in many appendix K class races. It was built in 1998 for the 1999 season, with a new chassis and with all new or replaced components, regardless of cost, - with one aim - to win races,
which was something it has done exceedingly well.
It has just been inspected by Jeremy Hall from the FIA and it will have the latest Historic Technical Passport issued by the time of the sale which will allow the car to continue its winning ways in FIA competitions and invitation races. These papers as you will know, supercede any other form of papers and will be the only 'passport to racing' in 2006.
It comes with a V5 bearing a non transferable period registration number and may or may not have entitlement to the chassis number listed in the catalogue. We are therefore selling this car simply as a race TR4, which has all the recent history and the all-important Historic Technical Passport which will allow it to race at the front of the Gentleman Drivers races and all the other events it has completed in once again.

All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.

You can collect your new pride and joy from our venue until 1pm the day following the sale or our partners are on hand to help arrange safe transportation:
