Lot details Registration No: E300BND Chassis No: SAJJNAEW3BA150618 Mot Expiry: Nov 2005
The E-Type replacing XJS first appeared in Jaguar dealer showrooms from 1975. Sharing much of its running gear with the XJ6/XJ12 saloons, albeit with shortened wheelbase and either 5.3-litre twelve or, later, 3.6 six under bonnet, the Malcolm Sayer styled model was much more of a grand tourer with a decent-sized boot than an out-and-out sportscar.
This XJS, an HE-spec V12 coupe with automatic transmission, was manufactured at Jaguar's Coventry works in 1988, since when the right-hand drive two-door fixed head has only had two lady owners who are responsible for the believed to be genuine 43,809 total mileage displayed when entered for the sale. It has cruise control, air-conditioning, leather interior with electrically heated seats, original radio and immobiliser.
Current bodyshell condition is described by the vendor as being good, silver paintwork good though with some marks, and alloy wheels and grey leather interior also good. 5.3 engine and automatic transmission are reportedly in good order. The current MOT certificate will be valid until the end of November. High powered, super-smooth and extremely luxurious and comfortable, an XJS represents exceptional value for money. Spares availability is also good.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
