Norton twin cylinder engines have been popular with classic racers for a number of years, providing an easily tuned option for those seeking to compete in the larger capacity classes.
This pretty Norton racing special was built for the vendor by the well known Norton specialist Mick Hemmings. A twin cylinder engine, believed to displace 650cc, fitted with twin Amal Concentric carburettors is fitted into a "featherbed" frame with a slight forwards inclination. Drive is transmitted to the Norton gearbox via a toothed belt primary drive and subsequently to the rear wheel with a conventional chain drive. Both wheels are equipped with alloy rims, the front being laced to a four leading shoe Fontana brake mounted in externally sprung forks and the rear to a full width hub. An alloy fuel tank and centrally mounted alloy oil tank contain the required fluids and a small fly-screen combined with numberplate is fitted. Clip-ons and rear sets provide mounting points for the controls and a racing single seat accommodates the rider. The exhaust system is swept back on each side terminating in a pair of short, reverse cone megaphones. The machine is presented to a very high standard. The frame being finished in black with virtually all the other components being either polished or plated.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
