Lot details Registration No: CC 5613 Chassis No: 105094 Mot Expiry: None
William Morris launched his world famous Cowley model just before the first world war, making 1344 of them at an initial cost of £169 for the two-seater and £194 for the four-seater before production facilities were deployed to serve the war effort. Car production resumed postwar and, by 1925, Morris was home market leader, securing 41 per cent of UK sales.
This Bullnose, which was built at Cowley in 1925, was originally owned by a Doctor in North Wales, before belonging to a Miss Rosemary Christmas of Weston-Super-Mare. From 1954, and for approximately the next fifty years, CC 5613 has been owned by a Doctor G D and Mrs J Henley, the latter reporting that the tourer bodywork has never been accident damaged.
When entered, there were just 3232 miles displayed, while the chassis is reportedly in good shape and, having been repainted in June 2002, the open bodywork very good and the green vinyl trimmed interior also good. The 1479cc four-cylinder motor is said to be in good order, the three-speed gearbox fair and the electrical equipment in fair condition.
Also, usefully included with this motor car are very many spares, including another engine block and cylinder head, two gearboxes, two front axles, six wheel rims, a petrol tank, a brass foot pump and a wicker picnic basket. The full list of items that come with this car can be perused at our documents office at Buxton.
