Lot details Registration No: FUR448B Chassis No: AB51528 Mot Expiry: Aug 2005
This 1964-built and Bertone-styled Giulia Sprint GT has been an outright winner of the HRCR's Safety Devices Historic Rally Challenge, a series that used to be for pre-1967 classics and which combined both road and special stage rallying disciplines. Restored by Nigel Shapland in 1990, the Italian coupe in marque appropriate red has been successfully rallied by Paul Merryweather from 1992 and Jeremy Lewis from 1996.
The `serious' spec includes strengthened shell, substantial underbody protection, full roll cage, safety harnesses, plumbed-in extinguisher, second floor-mounted extinguisher, intercom, map light, valuable Halda trip with adjustment wheels, upgraded suspension and brakes, and Minilites shod with Colways plus four spares with tarmac tyres. Both sills and exhaust have been renewed, the latter with a GTA-type system in stainless steel, while both 1779cc capacity twin cam four on twin 45 DCOE Webers and five-speed manual box are reportedly in good order.
Since FVR 448B was last rallied some five seasons ago, the right-hand drive fixed head has been enjoyed as a road car and comes with 1991 approved Historic Vehicle Identity papers, MSA Stage logbook from 1998 and MOT certificate valid until August.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
