Lot details Registration No: WRD 45T Chassis No: SRH37509 Mot Expiry: April 2007
Launched in 1965, the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was a bold departure for the Crewe concern. Their first monocoque design, it also benefited from olio-pneumatic rear suspension, power disc brakes and GM's smooth 400 series automatic gearbox. A beguiling mix of sumptuous leather hides, rich wood veneers and deep lambswool carpets, its luxurious interior was rarely disturbed by the effortlessly potent V8 engine (in either original 6,230cc or later 6,750cc guise). Introduced in 1977, the updated Shadow II boasted a more ergonomic fascia, revised front suspension geometry and power assisted rack and pinion steering. Undoubtedly better to drive, its new split level air-conditioning system was well received too.
Finished in Caribbean Blue with Navy Blue leather upholstery, this particular example is variously descried by the vendor as being in "fair" (paintwork), "good" (electrical equipment, bodywork, wheels / tyres) or "very good" (engine, automatic gearbox, interior trim, chassis) condition. Said to have had "only three owners from new" and to have covered just 75,860 miles since leaving the Crewe factory some twenty-seven years ago, WRD 45T is further understood to benefit from a "full service history". Summed up as a "lovely, usable Shadow II", it is offered for sale with "all books, large / small tools" and MOT certificate valid until March 2007.
PLEASE NOTE: This vehicle has an MOT until April 2007.
