Some 129,000 Sprites were made between the 'Frog Eye' of 1958 and 1971. The bodywork was completely revamped for the MKII introduced in 1961, which featured conventional wings, bonnet and headlights. The rear was also updated and given an opening bootlid. The vendor informs us that the previous owner of this beautifully-presented MKII so cherished it that she lavished no less than £34,000 on a nut and bolt restoration! This was carried out between 2000 and 2003 by marque specialists Classic Restorations of Bedford, who are understood to have renewed or refurbished virtually every item; not least the 948cc A Series engine which was fully overhauled and balanced, and the Red leather interior trim, carpets and hood that were all completely replaced. As a result, the vendor goes as far as describing the bodywork, paintwork, interior trim, engine and gearbox as all being to 'concours' standard. 'AHP 822A' comes complete with 12 months' tax.
