Lot details Registration No: VG1860 Chassis No: ZX19093383 Mot Expiry: June 2004
Along with Humber, Rover and Swift, Singer had its origins in the once world leading Coventry cycle industry. The vendor of this Singer Junior tells us that the 1929-built saloon has had just four previous owners, the 79,873 miles recorded when entered for the sale believed to be the total mileage from new. The VG 1860 registration on car and V5 is the original.
Last restored eight years ago, the condition today is described as being still generally good. The 4-door saloon bodywork is blue fabric covered with black fabric roof and black painted wings, and is currently described as good. Grey-blue trim and headlining have been renewed at some time and are also said to be good. All the brasswork would appear to be correct, the headlights and sidelamps being to original spec and the original water temp gauge is atop the radiator. On file are a number of photos which record that the rebuild included the 858cc 4-cylinder engine, which is said to be in very good order as is the 3-speed manual gearbox.
