Final evolution of Alfa Romeo's 'Duetto' Spider, the S4 variant was introduced in 1990. Visually distinguished by its colour-coded bumpers, neatly integrated sideskirts and full-width rear lights, it was based around a two-door monocoque bodyshell equipped with independent coil and wishbone front suspension, a coil-sprung 'live' rear axle and servo-assisted brakes. Powered by a choice of 1.6 litre or 2.0 litre DOHC four-cylinder engines allied to five-speed manual transmission, the model proved a sprightly performer. Credited with some 107bhp and 101lbft of torque, the smaller-engined derivative was reputedly capable of 0-60mph in 10 seconds and 118mph.
Finished in white with beige upholstery, this particular left-hand drive example is described by the vendor as being in "very good" overall condition with regard to its 1570cc engine, five-speed manual gearbox, electrical equipment, interior trim, chassis, bodywork, paintwork and wheels / tyres. Reportedly "imported to this country in 2002", 'H581 OEE' is believed but not warranted to have covered just 75,070km from new (approximately 47,000 miles). Said to be an "excellent driver", the Spider sports suede inserts to its "unmarked interior" and a "very good" black hood. Further benefiting from an immobiliser, 'H581 OEE' is offered for sale with "old MOTs back to 2002, original service book" and MOT certificate valid until April 25th 2007.
