BACKGROUND: This project was actually started in 1982 but the part finished race car was then left untouched in dry store for eighteen years. The car has now been the subject of a full nut and bolt strip down and rebuild (started in 2004), bare metal respray and upgrade with modern racing parts / systems. Although, built from the outset as a lightweight classic race car, it could easily be converted to fast road or track day use.

ELIGIBILITY: JEC Sportscar, Proteus and other classic race series.

ENGINE: Ron Beatty / Forward Engineering. Full race 4235cc. Built from all new parts (including Block, Con Rods, Crankshaft etc). Fully balanced, tutrifided crankshaft, 9:1 compression pistons. New fully gas-flowed cylinder head, BG 450 high-lift camshafts. Lightweight crankshaft and aluminium water pump pulleys. Power output in excess of 300BHP. All new Kevlar hoses, custom aluminium oil catch tank, H/D mounts.

IGNITION: Total loss ignition system (no dynamo), new Lucas 22 distributor, new competition Lumenition electronic ignition system with 10mm racing plug leads and Omex rev limiter / shift indicator system. New NGK 6ES spark plugs. Rear boot-mounted battery in sealed housing with remote external starter connection. H/D battery on trolley with lead supplied.

CARBURATION: Triple twin-choke 48mm Dellortos fully serviced by Gower & Lee on taper-bored gas-flowed manifold (c/w manual), Lynx E-type Inlet manifold. Alloy foam filled fuel cell with 'Aston' style larger filler and new competition facet pump and new competition filter king.

COOLING: NAR re-cored and restored Series II radiator with new lightweight fan tray and new dual Kenlowe fans. Uprated oil pump, spin off oil filter and front-mounted oil cooler.

EXHAUST: Warren Pearce 6-branch manifold (thermal wrapped). Sill mounted side-exhaust with cover.

CLUTCH: Ten-inch AP Racing competition plate, standard Jaguar ten-inch spring cover, lightened and balanced flywheel.

GEARBOX: E-type Series I close ratio four-speed all synchromesh.

DIFFERENTIAL: Fully rebuilt 3.54:1 limited slip GKN POWR-LOK.

BRAKING: Uprated and fully rebuilt all round including all master cylinders. Three-pot callipers with Mintex 1155 racing pads gripping solid discs and actuated via twin servo units rebuilt by Paul Norton. SRF brake fluid.

SUSPENSION: Lowered, stiffened with race springs and new GAZ shocks to front, new KONI coil-over shocks to rear. Rob Beere adjustable front anti-roll bar. Solid mounts to new steering rack. New superflex bushes throughout. Rob Beere adjustable ride height reaction plate fitted. Car has been professionally tracked, corner weighted and all casters and cambers set.

BODY: Lightened steel shell including alloy panelling and drilled hinges / stripped out doors. Complete professional respray in white. GRP reinforced bonnet with side catches. All excess weight removed. All side windows, rear screen and light covers fabricated from FIA specification polycarbonate. Rear door custom-moulded polycarbonate with fitted breathers for rear inboard brake disc cooling. Supplied with original steel door as spare (prepared, painted and fitted with polycarbonate rear window in original Jaguar seal). SNG reproduction lightweight headlamp covers. Modified to two wipers for track use with new motor.

INTERNAL: Fitted full roll cage with harnesses. Cobra passenger racing seat. Driver's seat competition aluminium Kirkey (oval) with cover for driving position but also supplied with spare Cobra race seat on adjustable runners for shorter drivers. Luke four-point three-inch FIA driver's harness. All scrutineers tweaks, transfers and internal / external power cut off switches. Fitted and plumbed new four-nozzle Lifeline zero 2000 FIA fire extinguisher with internal / external pulls. Oil pressure, oil temperature, water temperature gauges. Electronic tachometer with competition style individually switched ignition, fuel pumps, fans etc. Rear high-visibility rain light.

WHEELS & TYRES: Five MWS Competition wire wheels shod with new Goodyear 225/60 R15 Eagle F1 tyres. Additionally set of four Dunlop 6.00L-15 crossply race rubber with tubes.
