Lot details Registration No: LGH 776 Chassis No: B281FU Mot Expiry: Exempt
Entrusted to renowned coachbuilder H.J. Mulliner (where it was fitted with body number 5132), chassis B281FU was first UK road registered as 'LGH 776' on May 1st 1950. Powered by a 4257cc straight-six engine allied to four-speed manual transmission, the handsome six-light sports saloon had fallen into a state of disrepair by the time it entered the current ownership some eight years ago. Subsequently treated to a 'chassis up' restoration that is understood to have cost circa £64,000, most of the work was reportedly carried out by marque specialist Healey Bros. While other contractors included: Michael McEvoy (engine overhaul), Gary Wright (upholstery), Standard Chrome (brightwork) and a Crewe-based firm (wood veneers). Finished in Oxford Blue over Oyster Shell with Cream leather upholstery, this elegant coachbuilt MKVI is summed-up by the seller as 'a beautiful example that has been restored to a high standard'.
PLEASE NOTE: The vendor has informed us that the wood was refinished by P.W. Cooper of Crewe.
