c1992 Ford RS200

Lot details
Registration No: N/A
Chassis No: SFACXXBJ2CGL00167
Mot Expiry: N/A

The 1984 announced RS200 was specially designed, though produced for Ford by sub-contractors Reliant of Tamworth, specifically for International Rallying in the FIA's Group B category - eligibility for which required the manufacture of a minimum of 200. Amidships was a 250 bhp 1.8-litre motor, good for 140 mph in standard form, while 4-wheel drive ensured limpet-like roadholding on loose-surface special stages. Following the 1986 Group B ban however, the remaining unrallied RS200s were Tickford trimmed and sold off as road cars.

This 1992-dated RS200 coupe was converted to righthand drive by Gordon Spooner Engineering 31 July 1992 when the Ford competition car specialists supplied chassis number 167, then painted blue, to the first owner in the Far East, a copy of the £67,169 invoice being in the documents file.

Additionally, for parts and labour charges involved, and again fully detailed on a further copy invoice on file, conversion from L to RHD steering cost a further £3536.77, changing the suspension to tarmac specification another £2520, supplying and fitting a big-bore water system with twin radiator fans £864.22, changing to aeroquip hoses and fittings £369.08 and upgrading the disc brakes to carbon pads £348.84.

Presented today in red with black interior, the current condition of chassis, body, paint and interior of this RS 200 are described as good, while 4-cylinder motor and 5-speed gearbox are also reportedly in good order. Because of their performance potential not forgetting exclusivity, Group Bs like this have deservedly established a loyal and discerning following.

Please note that this vehicle is subject to VAT at the standard rate.
