Lot details Registration No: BDG241B Chassis No: 167471DN Mot Expiry: April 2005
The disc-braked Mk2 Jaguar replaced the thick-pillared, narrow rear track Mk1 in the late 1950s, the thinner-pillars, wider track and greater glass area and superior visibility of the Mk2 all being really worthwhile improvements. Mk2 engine options were 2.4, 3.4 or 3.8-litre sixes.
This Mk2 3.4 righthand drive car first left the Jaguar works at Browns Lane in Coventry in 1964. Included with BDG 241B, which is finished in gunmetal grey with dark blue leather interior trim, is some good history including an original green logbook and a number of photos recording restoration work.
According to the vendor, the sports saloon is well presented cosmetically, particularly inside the luxury interior where the assumed still to be original leather has been retained, though re-Connollised, and the woodwork repolished, whilst the period push-button radio has survived intact.
As for the outside of this classic, the paintwork is described as being in good condition and the same goes for all the chromework. The doors shut well, reportedly, and the underbonnet presentation is said to be relatively clean.
We are told that the total mileage displayed on the odometer when entered read 72,305 miles and the MOT will have been renewed before the auction. We understand that the car, which has the advantage of having the preferred manual gearbox with overdrive transmission, is only being sold due to the owner finding that he has insufficient time available to use and enjoy the car.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
